Family & Friends Living United In Diversity (FFLUID) is dedicated to offering “streams” of unconditional love, heartfelt support and quality resources to members of the LGBTQIA+ community, their families and friends.
We offer monthly support meetings for LGBTQIA+ persons, their families, friends and allies. Often the group is attended by people who are transgender, transitioning or gender fluid. We have have helped dozens of individuals and families who need friendship and support along this journey. You will find our support meetings friendly, warm and very talkative!
When are the meetings?
The 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Other events will be announced via our website and via our Facebook page: facebook.com/FFLUIDvc
Where are the meetings?
At the United Church of Christ, 370 Royal Ave., Simi Valley Ca 93065
What else do you do?
In addition to our support meetings we participate in activism and community building.
We advocate for LGBTQIA+ community on the local level. While we try to find many ways to be involved in being a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community, we have found that being a local advocate has had the most dramatic effect in the lives of our members. There are many organizations that do amazing advocacy work on the national and international level, so there is no need for us to reinvent the work that is already being done. By participating in local government, and assisting other local organizations and activists we center our support where it can gain visible results. Right here in Simi Valley, CA we were the recipients of the first Pride Proclamation in this city’s history! We have also been key participants in the launch of Conejo Valley Pride Festival and look forward to seeing this event blossom.
We offer periodic workshops, presentations and events that give the LGBTQIA+ Community, and their supporters, a safe space to learn, listen and grow. We have sponsored events like “Trans 101” with Ted Talks favorite Julian Foley and a “Faith, Gender and Sexuality” discussion in cooperation with the Guibord Center in Los Angeles. If you have an idea for an activity or event, we would love to hear it! Simply head over to our Contact Us page and drop us a line!
